Location, Ownership, and History

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, a marine-themed park and animal research rescue and rehabilitation opened on May 23, 2023, on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. SeaWorld Yas Island, Abu Dhabi is developed by Miral.

It is the first SeaWorld park out of the United States and the first park without orcas. The Abu Dhabi- based Miral Asset Management company is the owner and operator of SeaWorld Abu Dhabi under a license from United Parks & Resorts.

The park is conveniently located on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, a popular destination for its theme parks, entertainment options, and stunning beaches.

Size, Features, and Popularity of SeaWorld Abu Dhabi

Dive into an ocean on wonder at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. Once, here, guests can enjoy eight immersive realms, comprising more than 15 interactive experiences and rides, more than 100 animal encounters and presentations including up-close animal encounters, beyond 20 live characters and performances, 17 dining options, 13 retail outlets, and roaming entertainment across each realm.

Crowned the Largest Indoor Marine-Life Theme Park in the world, the park spans over 183,000 square metres (sqm) across five indoor levels. In other words, the is bigger than Wembley stadium.

Guests can discover the vast ocean through eight immersive realms. These include:

One Ocean: The central area of the park, which is designed to appear like the ocean floor comprises a 360-degree screen and hosts three shows: One Epic Ocean spectacular, Ocean Stories, and Immersive Media.

Abu Dhabi Ocean: This area is the first realm and also serves as the park’s exit. Embodying Arabian architecture, this section is where you’ll spot animals from the Persian Gulf. There are four pools, guests where visitors can touch or feed stingrays and starfish.

Rocky Point: Themed after the North American Pacific Northwest, the realm showcases California sea lions and harbor seals and contains an amphitheater for sea lion shows.

MicroOcean: An “underwater playground” for children, it features two playground areas and four rides: Eel Racer, a roller coaster; Jelly Plunge, a drop tower; Turtle Twist, a spinner ride; and OctoZoom Rockin’ Tug.

Tropical Ocean: Hosting bottlenose dolphins, Caribbean flamingos, macaws, and other tropical species, Tropical Ocean is home to the Manta launched coaster.

Arctic: A walrus, sea otters, and puffins are the animals that belong to this realm. It also features Hypersphere 360°, the world’s first dome ride theater.

The icy Antarctica is home to several species of penguins, which include king, Adélie, gentoo, Magellanic, rockhopper, macaroni, and chinstrap.

Endless Ocean: Filled with 6.6 million-gallons of water, this multi-species aquarium is the world’s largest and is home to over 1,800 species among which are sharks and rays.

SeaSub

With SeaSub, it is possible to experience the world’s first classified submersible designed, built, and certified for an aquarium environment.

The SeaSub is ABS +A1 classed, which basically means it’s the real deal when it comes to safety and engineering. Seasub is open to all guests aged 8 years and above. If you’re 16, make sure to bring an adult who is at least 18 years old with you for the dive. Dress Code

There is no specific dress code. However, note that SeaWorld can be cold inside, so make sure to carry a warm jacket or fleece. A set of change of clothes and swimwear- in case you plan underwater activities will be needed.

Estimated Time Needed to Explore SeaWorld Abu Dhabi

Plan your visit to enjoy the park between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. This time frame allows you a good 8 hours to experience the diverse realms, animal encounters, and exciting rides at your own pace. In short, you will need one full day to explore SeaWorld. So, plan accordingly.

Comparison with Nearby Attractions

When in Yas Island you can also plan to visit other nearby theme parks including Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi and Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. However, visiting all the parks on the same day might not be possible. Each of these theme parks will take a full day, hence it is advisable to plan accordingly. If you wish to cover all three theme parks, a good three days will be required.

By Car

• From Abu Dhabi City: Take Sheikh Zayed Road (E10) towards Dubai. Exit onto Yas Island and follow signs to SeaWorld. The drive takes approximately 20–25 minutes from downtown Abu Dhabi.
• From Dubai: Drive via Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) towards Abu Dhabi. Take the Yas Island exit and follow the Yas Island Expressway. The journey typically takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes, depending on traffic.
• Parking: SeaWorld Abu Dhabi offers ample parking facilities, including self-parking and valet services.

By Bus

• From Abu Dhabi City: Bus 216 provides direct service to SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. The nearest stop is Al Maha St / Gateway Park South 2, approximately a 12-minute walk from the park entrance.
  
• From Dubai: Take the E102 bus from Ibn Battuta Metro Bus Station to Abu Dhabi Airport Terminal A. From there, you can take a taxi or local bus to Yas Island. The total journey takes about 1 hour and 28 minutes.

Free Shuttle Services

• Yas Express: Complimentary shuttle buses operate within Yas Island, connecting major attractions, including SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. ​
• From Other Emirates: Free shuttle buses are available from Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, and Ajman to Yas Island. Advance booking is required via the Yas Island App, along with a valid theme park ticket. 

By Taxi or Ride-Sharing

• Taxis: Readily available throughout Abu Dhabi and Dubai. A taxi ride from Abu Dhabi city center takes about 20–25 minutes.​
