If you have been on social media in the past year, you must have seen scores of netizens going crazy about the ‘Dubai chocolate’. These gooey bars full of tasty green pistachio kunafa cream are taking the internet by storm for all the right reasons.
Established in 2021, FIX Dessert Chocolatier started becoming a global sensation only in 2024. In fact, the kunafa chocolate bars from the brand are so popular in different countries that tourists are genuinely flying to Dubai just to get their hands on them.
Tourists ditching fridge magnets for local specialities
Expedia’s 25 travel trends indicate that thousands of travellers are going the distance in search of treasures they cannot get at home. On social media, goods from the OG FIX Dubai chocolate, skincare products from South Korea to butter from France are going viral.
Gen Z are highly interested in these speciality goods and are not afraid to travel thousands of miles for them. In addition to sightseeing and visiting tourist attractions, many people are also frequenting local supermarkets and grocery stores for local delicacies.
Keychains and fridge magnets at the gift shops are no longer amusing tourists. Instead, many people are craving for something more special – such as the Dubai chocolate, tea tastings in China, matcha experiences in Japan and coffee tours in Costa Rica.
The craze for OG Dubai chocolate: Tourists don’t mind going miles
The viral Dubai chocolate has been filling up social media feeds across the globe and tempting people a lot. Many are planning an entire holiday around the bars. Nonetheless, there is no need to mention that there are many other amazing things to do in Dubai.
These OG FIX chocolate bars have become so popular that they ranked second behind only Japanese candy in the annual poll as a good that people are ready to travel for. 17% of global tourists don’t mind flying into Dubai just for the pistachio kunafa chocolate.
Out of 25,000 respondents, 33% in the UAE, 31% in Mexico, 28% in South Korea, 20% in Singapore, 15% in France and the US, 11% in Denmark and 8% in the UK are looking to get their hands on the Dubai chocolate. But it is not a task so easy.
FIX Dubai chocolate: Tips and tricks to place an order
Not only is the OG pistachio kunafa chocolate unique, but it is also hard to purchase. The OG brand FIX releases only a couple of batches per day online and they usually sell out in just a matter of minutes. You need to act fast.
Founded by British-Egyptian Dubai expatriate Sarah Hamouda, each piece of FIX chocolate is homemade – adding to the uniqueness. There are designs painted on the surface of each chocolate bar. The limited supply makes the goods more sought after.
FIX Dessert Chocolatier is looking for expansion. But currently, the brand has no in-person or online shop. You can only place an order on the Deliveroo app. The sale starts at 2 PM and 5 PM each day. Make sure you are on the app at the time of release.
The prices are reasonable – coming at Dh385.50 for a box of 6 different flavours or Dh189 for a mini box of 10 smaller pieces of chocolate. Fortunately, Dubai is no longer the only place this bar is available in. People in the UAE capital can also place an order.
