The World’s Largest Indoor Theme Park in the Heart of Dubai

IMG Worlds of Adventure Dubai is one of the most ambitious entertainment destinations ever built, holding its place as one of the world’s largest temperature-controlled indoor theme parks. Spread across 1.5 million square feet, roughly the equivalent of 28 football fields, the park sits on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) within the City of Arabia development in Dubailand. Opened in August 2016 and developed by the Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari Group, it can accommodate over 20,000 visitors daily and brings together six distinct themed zones under one enormous air-conditioned roof, making it a genuinely year-round destination regardless of Dubai’s summer heat.

The park is divided into six worlds: Marvel, Cartoon Network, Lost Valley Dinosaur Adventure, IMG Boulevard, The Haunted Hotel, and IMG Kids Zone. Each zone is fully themed, immersive, and packed with rides, attractions, live entertainment, dining, and retail, making it far more than just a collection of roller coasters. It is as much a full-day entertainment complex as it is a theme park, drawing families, thrill-seekers, teenagers, and tourists from across the region and beyond.

The Marvel Zone is the flagship attraction for superhero fans, designed to feel like stepping inside the Marvel Universe itself. The zone is built around iconic characters including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk, Captain America, Black Widow, and Hawkeye.

Key rides include Avengers: Battle of Ultron, a 3D motion simulator where guests fight alongside the Avengers against Ultron; Spider-Man Doc Ock’s Revenge, a roller coaster that puts guests in the middle of a mission to stop Doctor Octopus; Thor Thunder Spin, a dizzying physics-defying experience set against the battle between Thor and Loki; Avengers Flight of the Quinjets, a spinning ride open to all heights above the minimum; and the Hulk Epsilon Base 3D experience. Character meet-and-greets and live shows are also a regular feature in this zone. Tony’s Skydeck, a fine dining restaurant within the Marvel Zone, serves quality steaks and seafood for those looking for a sit-down meal between rides.

The Cartoon Network Zone is the sweet spot for families with younger children, built around beloved animated shows including Ben 10, The Powerpuff Girls, Adventure Time, The Amazing World of Gumball, and more. Rides include Ben 10 5D Hero Time, an immersive 5D experience; The Amazing Ride of Gumball; Powerpuff Girls Mojo Jojo’s Robot Rampage, a flight-style ride; and The Ride of OOO with Finn and Jake from Adventure Time. The zone is colourful, energetic, and deliberately designed with gentler thrills to suit younger visitors, though it holds plenty of nostalgia for adults who grew up with these shows too.

Lost Valley is one of IMG’s original concepts and one of the most impressive zones in the park. It is home to over 70 animatronic dinosaurs brought to life with advanced sound design and movement technology, creating a prehistoric world that genuinely immerses visitors. The headline ride is the Velociraptor, one of the fastest roller coasters of its kind, which launches guests from the jungle of the Lost Valley out into the Dubai desert.

Other rides include Predator, a thrilling coaster with sudden drops and dark tunnel sections; Forbidden Territory, a safari-style ride into a valley of prehistoric surprises; Adventure Fortress, an outdoor adventure playground with ladders, tunnels, slides, and climbing challenges within a prehistoric setting; and the Dino Carousel for younger visitors. There are several dining choices in this area that include Spice Valley for Indian food, 360 Express for quick bites, and The Carnivore Hut for grilling meats.

Haunted Hotel at IMG is the flagship horror offering from IMG and a must see attraction of this park. It is a walk-through horror maze that includes live actors, dimly lit passages, varying settings, and continuous shocks and scares. It is a ride open only to visitors aged 15 and older and identification cards are mandatory for persons aged 15 to 18 years old. This attraction is located in IMG Boulevard and is recommended to be visited during off peak periods as there can be long lines outside this attraction.

IMG Boulevard serves as the beating heart of the park, the central zone that connects everything else and functions as a destination in its own right. It houses the majority of the park’s dining options, retail stores, and general entertainment. Dining highlights include Boulevard Gourmet, Flavours of Arabia for traditional Arabic food, The Coffeehouse for coffee and pastries, the Popcorn Factory, and World of Candy.

Retail covers everything from Marvel merchandise and superhero costumes to Cartoon Network toys, plushies, and collectables. The Boulevard Express is a ride that loops through the zone and offers a fun way to take in the surroundings. Novo Cinemas is another attraction found in the park and gives movie-goers a luxurious movie-watching experience away from the rides.

The latest attraction added to the park is called IMG Kids Zone, which is an inflatable play area created especially for kids, giving them an opportunity to enjoy themselves safely while the parents get some time off.

In total, there are 37 food and drink establishments in the park, serving 13 different types of cuisine from America, Middle East, Asia, Mexico, Europe, India, and even South Africa. The park also offers a wide variety of food options – anything from a quick snack on the themed food cart to having a proper sit-down lunch at Tony’s Skydeck. There is retail merchandise available throughout all zones in the park that is unique to each world.

The ticket price for entry is AED 365 for adults and free for children under 1.05 meters tall. Tickets cover unlimited access to all 22 rides and attractions across all zones, with the exception of the IMG Arcade Games and certain premium experiences. A Fast Track pass is available as an additional purchase for those who want to skip queues, particularly useful on weekends and school holidays.

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or above. The park is open Sunday to Thursday from 12 noon to 10pm and Friday and Saturday from 12 noon to 11pm, with attraction queues closing 30 minutes before park closing time. Disability access passes are available at all ticketing kiosks. Wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Outside food and beverages are not permitted inside the park.

The best days for visiting the park would be from Monday to Thursday as there are less visitors and lines during these days. At weekends and school holidays, the visitor flow increases considerably. The season from October to April can be considered the most comfortable time for visiting Dubai, although, since the amusement park is indoor and air-conditioned, it provides comfort during summer.

The most convenient way to get to the park is driving a car with free parking spaces and VIP parking. The park is located in E311, close to Arabian Ranches and Global Village. You can use the Red Line metro to get to Mall of the Emirates, and from there, you will need to get a taxi that takes 20 to 30 minutes. Also, buses 106, F55, 27, C7, and C9 go to this place. Nearby places include Global Village, Dubai Miracle Garden, and Dubai Sports City.
