DXB Travellers No Longer Need to Unpack Laptops, Electronics; Here’s Why

Experience the DXB Airport security update—no need to remove laptops, electronics, or liquids at new streamlined checkpoints.

Tired of long security queues? Well, we’ve got good news! Travellers flying to or through Dubai International Airport will no longer have to face long, boring security checks. How, you ask? Read on to know!

New Security System In DXB

Getting through DXB Airport security will now be a breeze, thanks to the new screening technology installed in the airport. Terminals 1, 2, and 3 in DXB will now have state-of-the-art checkpoint scanners. The move comes as Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects (DAEP) sealed a deal with Smiths Detection.

The new scanners eliminate the need for travellers to remove items from their bags. This means, travelers will no longer have to remove electronics like laptops or liquids from their carry-on bags at the security checkpoint. The 3D technology used by the scanners allows them to scan through the bags, without travelers having to unpack them. Isn’t this cool?

The new technology, already certified by the US’s Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), is in place to ensure seamless travel, without delays in the security screening.

Other Key Features of the 3D Scanning

The new system comes equipped with a software that detects objects automatically, as well as intelligent lane management, with automated tray return. With DXB retaining its title as the busiest airport in the world, the need for easy and efficient infrastructure is the need of the hour. These new technologies and systems will further enhance travel experience and solidify its position as the world’s best airport.

List Of Airports Using Smiths Detection Technology

DXB is not the first or the only airport to use Smiths scanning technology. Airports worldwide are using this technology to ensure seamless travel. According to a press release from Smiths, various airports across the United States awarded a contract to the company to supply advanced CT checkpoint systems.
