Dubia Public Beaches Certified as “Autism Friendly” with Global Recognition! In a historic recognition, Dubai’s public beaches have become the first in the world to receive certification as a Certified Autism Centre (CAC) by the International Board of Certification and Continuing Education Standards.

The announcement was made during the Access abilities Expo 2024, an event focused on empowering individuals with disabilities and addressing their needs and aligns with the vision of making Dubai an ideal inclusive city that caters to the needs of every individual.

What Does it Mean?

Dubia Public Beaches Certified as Autism Friendly with Global Recognition Becoming the first Certified Autism Centre (CAC) entails that the beaches are equipped with autism-friendly facilities, ensuring a welcoming environment for individuals with autism and their families. Along with the facilities, Dubai Municipality has implemented educational programs and training workshops for employees and the CAC certification is a testament to their commitment. These programs reinforce Dubai’s commitment to high international standards in accessibility and allow the employees of the Municipality to better cater to the needs of individuals with autism.

IBCCES Accessibility App has also been introduced for the public so that residents and visitors can review available accommodations at Dubai’s beaches, helping them choose the most suitable location based on their specific needs.

Ibrahim Mohammad Juma, Director of Public Beaches and Water Canals Department of Dubai Municipality, emphasized the ongoing commitment to providing safe environments and unique recreational experiences. He said that they would continue to enhance the facilities at public beaches and make them more accessible to all.

Myron Pincombe, CEO of the International Council for Accreditation Standards, commended the work done by Dubai Municipality and highlighted the importance of making public beaches accessible to all.

This recognition underscores Dubai’s dedication to creating inclusive spaces, ensuring that everyone can enjoy its beautiful beaches.
