Press Release: Dubai’s food scene just got a touch more glamorous with the arrival of China Tang Restaurant Dubai, the celebrated Cantonese restaurant that originally made a name for itself in London. Set to open this weekend, at The Lana Promenade, part of the ultra-luxurious Dorchester Collection, this marks the brand’s first step into the Middle East.

Think rich Chinese flavours served with flair, all wrapped up in a stunning Art Deco setting—right in the heart of Downtown Dubai. It’s more than just a restaurant opening; it’s a new go-to spot for anyone who loves great food with a side of elegance.
Location
China Tang Dubai is tucked away by the calm waters of Marasi Bay Marina, inside The Lana hotel, which is part of the fancy Dorchester Collection. It’s in a great spot with beautiful views of the marina and just a short walk or drive from Dubai’s famous landmarks like the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall.
A Journey Back to 1930s Shanghai
Entering China Tang Dubai takes you back in time, to the Art deco splendor and sophistication of Shanghai in the 1930s. The inside is authentic Art Deco wizardry, with breathtaking hand-painted wall hangings, custom-stained glass, and carefully chosen decorative objects that give the atmosphere an air of sophistication. Mirrored ceilings and soft, warm lighting play off the traditional Chinese idea of yin and yang, making the whole place feel perfectly balanced and welcoming.

The restaurant spreads across two floors and can host up to 180 guests. If you’re after something a bit more private, there are two elegant rooms ideal for special celebrations or business dinners. And don’t miss the intimate cocktail lounge, where you can treat yourself to creative cocktails before or after dinner. The bar menu here is thoughtfully created to complement China Tang’s famous dim sum and refined small plates, so it’s perfect for you to sit back and indulge.
What’s On the Menu?
Chef Li Zhenjun, a seasoned veteran with over 25 years of experience in Cantonese dining, whips up traditional recipes, with a contemporary touch, good enough to leave foodies craving for more.
Some of the restaurant’s signature dishes have already become guest favourites. There’s Sir David’s Hot and Sour Soup, a tribute to the founder that nails the balance between tangy and spicy. The Xiao Long Bao are delicate little dumplings that quite literally burst with flavour. Kung Pao Prawns bring just the right amount of heat and crunch, while the Crispy Shredded Beef is sweet, spicy, and perfectly crisped up.

The Whole Lobster with E-Fu Noodles feels like a proper indulgence—rich, silky, and full of flavour. And of course, there’s the iconic Beijing Duck, roasted in a specially built oven that you’ll spot right as you walk in. It’s a bit of a showpiece, and while it’s best to pre-order, you can also request it when you arrive, though it takes about 45 to 60 minutes to get just right.
But what makes the Dubai location truly special is a few dishes you won’t find anywhere else. The Foie Gras Cherries are a standout starter, combining rich foie gras with a sweet cherry twist. The Honey-Glazed Beef Char Siu is a clever spin on a classic, tender and packed with flavour. Then there are the “Da Hong Pao” Lamb Cutlets, infused with aromatic Chinese tea, and the Poached Spotted Coral Grouper, which comes bathed in spicy Sichuan oil and really turns up the heat.

And if you’re into dim sum, you’re in the right place! Each bite is sure to give you a blast of flavors that will linger on even after you’ve left the place.
China Tang Dubai does not exactly feel like another posh restaurant—it’s full of character. The moment you enter, there’s this combination of old-fashioned Cantonese charm and Art Deco glitz which somehow just works. If you have been to the one in London, there’s a comforting sense of familiarity, but this one does have its own Dubai style.

The food lives up to the setting—thoughtfully done, full of flavour, and clearly made with care. Add to that the gorgeous location by the marina and genuinely attentive service, and you’ve got a place that’s more than just a dinner reservation. It’s the kind of spot you come back to, whether it’s for a special night out or just because you want something really good.
