Zuma Dubai is the city’s most iconic contemporary Japanese restaurant, an award-winning dining institution sitting on the podium level of Gate Village Building 3 at Al Mustaqbal Street in the Dubai International Financial Centre, with views across DIFC’s bustling plaza and the wider skyline. Zuma Dubai Restaurant Features and Dining Experience
The interior is a towering edifice of warm wood, natural stone, and striking lighting that creates a welcoming yet energetic atmosphere. A centrally located island bar specialising in sake, shochu, and Japanese whisky anchors the ground floor, with the open robata grill visible from across the room and plush seating and private booths offering more intimate dining options.
The restaurant spans two floors connected by a dramatic staircase and a dedicated guest elevator, with the main dining area on the lower level offering varied seating including counter seats and lounge areas. A large outdoor terrace is available during the cooler season from October through April, and is one of the most usable outdoor spaces in Gate Village, particularly sought-after on Thursday and Friday evenings. Weekend DJ programming adds a social nightlife dimension to what is already one of DIFC’s most animated dining rooms.
The menu is designed entirely for sharing, with dishes arriving across categories in a steady, informal stream in the true izakaya tradition. The food is authentic but not traditional, with izakaya small plates for sharing and crowd-pleasing signature mains such as miso-marinated black cod wrapped in hoba leaf. The robata grill uses binchotan charcoal to generate high, clean heat with minimal smoke, and produces the restaurant’s most technically distinguished dishes.
Signature dishes include the Miso Black Cod, a filet marinated in sweet miso and grilled to a caramelised crust that guests describe as perfectly cooked and full of flavour, the Spicy Beef Tenderloin with sesame, red chilli, and sweet soy, described by FACT Magazine as one of the best dishes in Dubai, and the Zuma signature sushi platter, yuzu pepper jumbo tiger prawns, beef tataki, and black cod gyoza. The bar programme is woven into the meal rather than treated as an afterthought, with sake, Japanese whisky, and citric highballs scented with yuzu and shiso all complementing the food. A Saturday brunch called Baikingu runs from 12:30pm with unlimited dishes and dessert room access, and a Wednesday Night Brunch brings Zuma Hong Kong’s iconic night brunch format to Dubai from 9pm.
Zuma is open for lunch Monday to Wednesday and Sunday from 12pm to 3:30pm, and Thursday and Friday from 12pm to 3:30pm, with dinner service running daily from 7pm. Thursday and Friday evenings are the highest-volume periods, with midweek lunch offering a quieter experience. Reservations are strongly recommended. The restaurant is non-smoking throughout. Valet parking is available at Gate Village, and Financial Centre Metro Station on the Red Line is within walking distance. Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall are approximately 10 minutes away, Downtown Dubai is 5 minutes by car, and Dubai International Airport is around 20 minutes.
