UAE Tourist Visa for UK Residents
British passport holders have it easy! You don’t have to apply for a UAE visa prior to your arrival because you will be granted a 30-day tourist visa, completely free of charge, upon arrival in DXB. This also means you don’t have to fill any forms or go through the stress of applying for a tourist visa prior to your journey. However, if you’re planning to extend your stay beyond 30 days, you must apply for a tourist visa. You can get the visa done through online, an agent or hotel concierge service.
However, you must make sure that your UK passport is valid for a period of at least six months from the date of entry into the UAE. Upon arrival, your passport will be stamped by the immigration officer, and off you go. The visa is valid across all seven emirates of the UAE, so in the event that you’re going to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, or Fujairah after taking full advantage of Dubai, you will not need to produce any other document.
Best Time to Visit Dubai
Dubai’s sunshine is pretty much a year-round promise, but when it comes to the best time to visit, timing your trip right can make all the difference—especially if you want to explore comfortably without breaking a sweat (literally).
The cooler winter months from November to March are by far the most popular time of the year to see Dubai — and for good reason. With daytime temperatures comfortably ranging between 20°C and 30°C, the weather is perfect for taking full advantage of everything the city has to offer. You can actually enjoy being outdoors, whether you’re strolling through the historic alleyways of Old Dubai, browsing the colourful souks, or lounging on the beach without feeling like you’re melting.

It’s also the perfect season for desert safaris, al fresco dining, and long walks along The Walk at JBR or around Dubai Marina. In addition to all that, this is when the city really gets into action with events. The Dubai Shopping Festival opens, New Year’s celebrations are massive, and the general vibe is party and celebratory. Just don’t forget — since this is peak season, Dubai becomes quite populous, so you’re lucky you reserve in advance if you’re coming these months.
Shoulder seasons—April to early May and late September to October—can also be lovely, offering a balance between decent weather and fewer crowds. So, depending on your travel priorities (budget, weather, or festivals), Dubai has something to offer all year long. Just don’t forget your sunscreen—regardless of the month!
Tips For Tourists Visiting Dubai

1. Dress respectfully
Dubai’s pretty relaxed by Middle Eastern standards, but it’s still best to keep it modest in public places. Think t-shirts, long skirts or pants, and avoid super short shorts or crop tops at malls and museums. Beachwear is fine—just keep it at the beach or pool.
2. Taxis are cheap, but the Metro’s a win too
Dubai taxis are affordable and everywhere, but the Metro is clean, air-conditioned, and great for avoiding traffic. If you’re visiting during peak season, it’s a solid way to get around. Just avoid the front carriage unless you want a surprise – it’s for women and children only!
3. Stay hydrated (you’ll thank us later)
Dubai can be scorching, especially between May and September. Always carry a water bottle with you—it’s easy to forget how dehydrated you get just walking around in the heat.
4. No PDA in public
Holding hands is usually fine, but kissing or hugging in public spaces? Big no. It’s a cultural thing, and authorities do take it seriously. Save the affection for your hotel room.
5. Download the Careem app
While Uber works fine, Careem is the local ride-hailing app and often cheaper. Plus, it also lets you order food, groceries, and even a PCR test to your hotel (yep, really).
6. Book activities in advance
From Burj Khalifa to desert safaris and dhow cruises, Dubai’s experiences get booked up quickly, especially during peak months (Nov–March). Booking early saves you time and disappointment.
7. Alcohol is allowed—but there are rules
You can drink at licensed restaurants, bars, and hotels. But drinking in public (or being drunk in public) is a big no-no. Also, alcohol isn’t sold in supermarkets—you’ll need to hit a licensed liquor store, and you might need a tourist license.
