The UAE has turned into an ideal tourist destination. UAE to make Health insurance for Tourist Visas a reality! Safety, a tolerant population, political stability, affordable shopping, promising infrastructure and a lively entertainment scene are amongst the several factors that make the Gulf state increasingly popular.
In an effort to boost the already impressive tourist figures, the UAE has announced a landmark project. It is aimed at helping tourists in the country get health insurance as they apply for visas, according to Emirati English daily Khaleej Times.
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) said the ‘health insurance for tourist visas’ is among its ‘transformative projects’. It can help tourists get insurance as they apply for their visas through the ICP site or application.
Cementing UAE’s position as a major vacation destination
The project seeks to offer emergency health coverage by automating the insurance process via an electronic platform. This platform is expected to handle the pricing and issuance of insurance packages from all prominent insurers in the UAE.
Industry experts in the country have hailed the recent development, stressing the transformative project can ensure “better experience” for tourists and cement the Gulf state’s position as a significant vacation destination across the globe.
Travellers should have an insurance cover as it provides an assurance of covering their hospitalisation expenses in case of an unexpected medical emergency. This is especially great for people not having much idea about health insurance.
Importance of ‘health insurance for tourist visas’ project
Having insurance cover “also ensures the government and private hospitals in the country that they don’t have to foot the bill for an emergency for visitors,” Khaleej Times quoted Ramzi Ghurani, Managing Partner at Petra Insurance Brokers, as saying.
Travellers looking for more comprehensive medical coverage are recommended to use their personal private insurance, besides the recently announced UAE project, to make sure they are fully projected in the case of an emergency.
The ‘health insurance for tourist visas’ project has been hailed by industry experts as a progressive move. It is expected to improve travellers’ stay in the Emirates as they get quick access to high-quality medical treatment in the event of an urgent need.

What makes you a good journalist? Hopefully, I can find a convincing answer to it someday. From Btech in Civil Engineering to pursuing Masters in Journalism and Mass Communication, it has been quite a journey. I have a keen interest in investigative journalism and exploring the latest developments in the Gulf region.
I care about ethical reporting and bringing something new to the table. Overall, if not a writer, I believe I would have been a globetrotter or a pet-sitter.
