From 1st January 2018, all UAE customers will be obligated to use the Thailand eVisa system. Expat Residents in the UAE

Valid Passport
Your passport should have a minimum of 6 months’ validity from the date you enter Thailand and have 1 blank visa page. UAE Residence Visa Copy
Have a clear color copy of your UAE residence visa with at least 3 months’ validity from the date of your arrival in Thailand. The visa must be in force (not cancelled nor expired). From now on, GCC citizens can submit their Emirates ID in place of a residence visa.
Emirates ID Copy
Make a colour copy of your Emirates ID (both front and back) as supporting evidence for UAE residence. The ID must be valid on the date when travelling should take place. It is a document to assist with ascertaining where you are currently residing in the UAE to confirm jurisdiction.
Passport-Size Photo
Submit one passport photograph (4×6) within 6 months of the date of issue. Your face should take up 70-80% of the space in the frame, with a neutral expression, no glasses or head coverings unless for religious reasons. The photo should be in JPEG format and under 1 Mb.
Return Flight Tickets
Provide your confirmed flight itinerary for your visa with entry/exit dates within the stay period. The return ticket has to be to your place of residence or a third country, NOT a nearby Thai border country. Open tickets/service “onward” tickets are not allowed, as they need to be confirmed before embarkation.
Hotel Booking Confirmation
Reserve hotel accommodations or Airbnb lodging for the entire duration of your trip to Thailand or have an ID copy from a host with an invitation letter in Thailand. Proof of Sufficient Funds

Travel Itinerary
Outline a simple day-to-day plan of where you go and where you stay in Thailand. This doesn’t necessarily have to be complicated, just the cities you are staying in, your lodging and the main activities you will be doing. For instance: “From Day 1 to Day 3: Bangkok (Shangri-la Hotel), and Days 4-7: Phuket ( Patong Beach Resort ).” This is a true expression of a tourist’s intention.
How to Apply for a Thailand Tourist Visa From UAE
Step 1: Go to the official Thai e-Visa website (https://www.thaievisa.gov.th). Use your email address and create a strong password when creating an account.

Thailand Visa Processing Time
Normally, an eVisa is issued within 3-10 working days from the time of application (public holidays will affect this timeframe). For those applications with complete and accurate documents, approval is usually granted within 5 working days.
In November-December-January, a high volume of applications may result in delays during these peak times and could increase the processing time to 12-15 days. Avoid stress. Apply at least 3 weeks in advance of your travel date.
In addition, processing may take another 3-5 days if the Embassy requires further documentation or an interview with the applicant in Abu Dhabi. If this occurs, you will be notified by email and must reply within 48 hours or the application will be cancelled.
There is no express service; beware of agents purporting “24-hour approval”. Everyone’s application gets processed from one queue, the Embassy.
Minimum Bank Balance & Financial Requirements
The funds that are available to allow tourists entry into Thailand are set at THB 10,000 per person or THB 20,000 per family. This comes to about AED 1100 per person or AED 2200 per family.
For those applying for an eVisa, the Embassies will want to see bank statements that indicate that you have made consistent use of that bank for 3-6 months, and never had any big payouts. A steady flow of AED 5,000+ for 3 months is more convincing than one-time deposits of AED 20,000 yesterday.
Accepted proof includes:
- A bank statement showing the last three months, stamped by the bank, Charter/Transfer and/or money order
- Tell him as much as he shows on his credit card statement. If he sees the credit limit, tell him as much
- Cash in Convertible Money (USD, EUR, AED)
- Exhausted play money Forex card. Play money Forex card (for use up to the limit).
Funds are examined at random by immigration officers, not for everyone. If requested, you will be denied entry even with a valid visa if you don’t present adequate financial means.
