Dubai is known for all things futuristic, and we all know it! From driverless taxis to fancy ATMs the city is replete with all things that scream future. Now, there’s a new addition to this list!
Robots or Talabots have been delivering food in the city for a while now, and the trend has now made its way into Expo City Dubai. Yango Group has rolled out a trial for robot food delivery, in an aim to offer seamless service and unparalleled convenience for workers, residents, and visitors in Expo City. The pilot phase will have robots making their way to Expo City’s central office at Al Wasl Plaza. These robots are engineered to pick food from select restaurants and cafes around Al Wasl Plaza.

How Do They Work?
The delivery robots operate on artificial intelligence and are trained to stick to specific routes, give way for pedestrians, and avoid obstacles, thereby providing seamless service. In order to facilitate this, the robots are equipped with hi-tech mapping and multiple sensors, which enable them to steer clear of people, vehicles or other obstacles even during poor lighting or adverse weather conditions.
Besides, these robots are electrically powered, so they operate with zero emissions and noise. The robots are currently engineered to deliver food to areas in Al Wasl 3 via the Expo City Eats app. The delivery routes and services will be expanded, upon the successful completion of the pilot phase.

With their clever, effective, and environmentally friendly solutions, Yango’s autonomous delivery robots are set to transform last-mile logistics. Yango can assess real-world performance in a citywide testbed and optimize their technology for smooth urban integration by conducting tests in Expo City Dubai’s Urban Lab.
