One of the safest international airlines has brought some major changes to its safety policies in order to keep all its passengers safe and maintain its reputation as one of the most reliable in the field. Let’s take a look at Qatar Airways power banks and vapes policy changes.

Qatar Airways operates a number of daily flights to three different locations in the UAE, including Dubai International, Zayed International and Sharjah International airports. These flights run at regular intervals and are quite short in duration. Thousands of tourists here use the airline’s flights from UAE to Qatar to explore the Gulf state and the other neighbouring areas, too. On the Dubai to Doha route, the first flight of the day is at 5:20 am and the last one is at 10:50 pm. You can get from Dubai to Doha in just 1 hour and 15 minutes, approximately. Isn’t it so convenient?

In relation to the updated dangerous goods policy, since such common entities like power banks, e-cigarettes and vapes containing lithium batteries are capable of overheating, emitting fumes and smoke, or self-igniting and catching fire, Qatar Airways has made it mandatory for passengers to carry these items only in their cabin baggage, not the checked-in luggage.

Qatar Airways power banks and vapes policy updated

Despite carrying the items in the aircraft cabin, there are some important regulations to keep in mind, such as passengers should not charge these items containing lithium batteries on board the aircraft. It is necessary that a passenger does not move the seat if a power bank, e-cigarette or vape is accidentally dropped. Make sure to inform the staff on-board immediately. Third, most importantly, passengers should not carry any equipment that has damaged batteries or has been recalled by manufacturers or authorities for safety reasons.

In terms of things passengers can do onboard the aircraft, let’s take a look. First of all, Qatar Airways passengers can use their in-seat USB ports or sockets to charge their portable electronic items (excluding the three names mentioned earlier). If using a portable battery to charge your other permitted electronic items, make sure to keep it in front of your eyes and not packed inside the carry-on bag or in the overhead bins. You need to keep items containing lithium batteries and loose batteries far from flammable items, such as perfumes. Make sure to inform the staff as immediately as possible should any items start to overheat, emit smoke or fumes or catch fire. Last but not least, apply safety caps or close the air vents on e-cigarettes or vapes in order to prevent any chances of accidental turning on.

Emirates power banks policy comes into effect

From October 1, Emirates passengers are required to abide by some additional rules, such as using any kind of power banks is prohibited onboard the flights. You cannot use these portable batteries to charge your personal electronic items, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops and cameras. Of course, it is not permitted to use the aircraft’s supply to get your battery charged. You also cannot place the item in the overhead bin. Such rules are in place to ensure the safety of all passengers and staff on-board the aircraft.

More airlines could be embracing such rules in the near future, it appears to be the case.
