Noodles, Sushi, Teppanyaki, and a Sushi and Bubbly Night on the 5th Floor of One of Dubai’s Most Iconic Hotel Towers

Izakaya is one of Business Bay’s most consistently celebrated Japanese restaurants, a lively, high-energy dining destination on the fifth floor of Tower B at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai on Sheikh Zayed Road, one of the tallest hotels in the world and one of the most prominent addresses in the Business Bay and Downtown Dubai corridor. Rooted in the concept of the Japanese izakaya, a convivial after-work space where great food is enjoyed with friends in a buzzing, social environment, the restaurant brings genuine warmth and personality to its cuisine through both the cooking and the service, with a Sake Boy who visits each table to let guests taste and select from the best sake in the restaurant, and a Wasabi Girl who prepares fresh wasabi tableside, two touches that give Izakaya a distinctive and memorable character that guests consistently praise in reviews. It holds a 4.1 rating on OpenTable across 123 diners and draws strong positive sentiment across TripAdvisor, Google, and Zomato for its fresh sushi, skilled teppanyaki chefs, attentive service, and sophisticated yet energetic ambience.

Restaurant Features and Dining Experience

The interior of Izakaya is described consistently as funky, slightly edgy, and sophisticated, a design that leans into the social, vibrant energy of a Tokyo izakaya while maintaining the polish expected of a JW Marriott dining venue. It is warm, well-lit and there is a lively buzz that reaches its peak in the evening hours of 7pm-9pm when the restaurant is at its most energetic and atmospheric. Guests repeatedly single out Chef Ajoy for his detailed preparation, the personal care he takes with every dish, and for personally visiting tables to ensure guests feel at home. The open kitchen and live teppanyaki stations are visible from across the dining room, adding theatre and movement to the experience.

Our staff members Anish, Wasabi and Ajit have been personally recognized in reviews for their outstanding attentiveness and gracious hospitality, going beyond mere transactional service to provide authentic, personalized care. The restaurant is fully accessible with an accessible entrance, parking and seating throughout the venue. The hotel features free Wi-Fi and has a smart casual dress code, with guests requested not to wear overly casual or beachwear to fit in with the hotel’s sophisticated setting. JW Marriott Marquis Hotel features valet parking.

The menu covers the whole spectrum of Japanese cuisine, with the kitchen’s two headline strengths being sushi and teppanyaki. The sushi and sashimi menu is based around fresh, high quality fish, and the nigiri, maki rolls, sashimi platters and Sushi and Sashimi Combo are all regularly commented on by guests for their freshness, presentation and flavour. Black cod is often cited as one of the standout individual dishes in reviews, perfectly cooked and full of flavor, alongside wagyu beef offerings that show the kitchen’s commitment to using premium ingredients throughout. The lighter side of the menu features a selection of tempura, seaweed salad and Japanese appetisers.

Noodles such as ramen and udon are comfort foods, while traditional Japanese starters increase the menu’s appeal for those who want to experience the full range of offerings. Vegetarian and vegan options are available and can be accommodated with advance notice, with the kitchen producing bespoke plant-based dishes on request. Desserts provide a strong conclusion, covering refined Japanese-influenced sweet options that complement the meal without overwhelming it.

The Teppanyaki Set Experience is one of the restaurant’s most distinctive and popular weekly offerings, available every Wednesday from 6pm to midnight and every Sunday from 6pm, with expert chefs cooking the finest ingredients directly at the table in a sizzling, theatrical display. It is priced at AED 225 per person for food only and AED 325 per person including house beverages, making it one of the more accessible premium dining experiences in this part of Dubai.

The Sushi and Bubbly Tuesday is the restaurant’s most popular recurring event, running from 6pm to midnight with unlimited Izakaya signature sushi paired with free-flowing champagne from AED 195 per person, and is consistently described by guests as excellent value and a highlight of the week. A 25% discount on the à la carte menu is available on selected evenings and promotions, and reservations are recommended particularly for Tuesday and Wednesday events when the restaurant fills up. Sunday through Friday the restaurant opens at 6pm and runs until midnight, and on Saturdays from 6:30pm to midnight.

Business Bay Metro Station on the Red Line is the closest station, approximately a 15-minute walk or a short taxi ride from the hotel. Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall are around 10 minutes by car. DIFC is approximately 5 to 10 minutes away. Downtown Dubai and Dubai Opera are within a short drive. Dubai International Airport is approximately 20 minutes by road.
