Travelling to Saudi Arabia for Hajj pilgrimage

GCC nationals are not required to hold a visa to travel to Saudi Arabia. But they must obtain the official Hajj permit to enter the Kingdom. This entitles them to the ‘express Hajj’ packages – can be arranged through Hajj tour operators.

Hajj visas are for Jeddah, Mecca and Medina. They are free but are not issued to individual pilgrims. Each applicant must apply through a licenced travel agency. You can find all the details about applying for Hajj visas on the official platform.

You must have a passport valid for at least 6 months, submit one recent passport size colour photograph and a completed application form (signed and stamped by the authorised travel agency). Female applicants need to travel with a Mahram (the male relative).

For group travel for Hajj 2025, remember that group leaders are required to give their contact details in Saudi Arabia at check-in. If they are unable to do so before departure, they must contact Emirates on arrival in Saudi and provide their local contact details.

For passengers travelling to Saudi Arabia for Umrah at any time of the year, you need to hold a specific Umrah visa. Travel to the Kingdom is restricted for Umrah visa holders during Hajj. During Ramadan, Emirates operates extra flights to Jeddah for Umrah pilgrims.
