Planning to travel in or out of Dubai this summer? You need to look out for the temporary restrictions in place for the Ebola outbreak 2026. The Bundibugyo (BVD) strain of the Ebola Virus has brought quite a bit of chaos to the global travel space. Including the UAE, multiple countries across the globe have implemented travel entry restrictions and/or enhanced screening measures to combat the situation. Emirates has just asked its passengers to pay attention to the Ebola travel advisory issued in different regions and remain informed at all times to avoid unnecessary surprises.

If you have plans for this peak summer travel season, please check the entry requirements of your destination country via official channels. So far, Uganda, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) are the most significant Ebola affected countries. If you have recently been to any of these nations or are planning to, please ensure you have taken the required measures as stated by your local countries. There is no room for procrastination, as Ebola is one of the most notorious viruses out there. Do not risk your health or put anyone else’s in danger because of carelessness.

Just a short time back, the UAE Foreign Ministry asked all its nationals and residents to hit pause on their travel plans to Uganda, South Sudan, and the DR Congo. The Dubai-based Emirates has also asked its customers to check their destination country’s Ebola measures and entry requirements as carefully as possible. Simultaneously, Canada, the US, India, Thailand, Mexico, Bahrain, Jordan and others have announced tightened measures to put up a good fight against the Ebola virus. In such time, staying informed is the first step to trip planning. Therefore, pay attention to all the details.

UAE’s Ebola Travel Advisory for Citizens & Residents

The Emirati Foreign Ministry has asked all the citizens and residents planning to travel to any of the Ebola-affected countries, such as Uganda, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to think again. It is advising against travel to these countries, as the Ebola-related health situation continues to change. Simultaneously, if any person is currently staying in the aforementioned countries, please exercise caution, pay heed to the health and safety instructions issued by the local authorities, and also register on the Twajudi service. Use your UAE Pass to access the service, submit your application, and get an SMS as confirmation.

UAE’s Ebola Travel Advisory for Arrivals From Uganda, South Sudan & DRC

The UAE’s NCEMA and ICP recently announced additional precautionary measures to combat the Ebola outbreak 2026. Most of these steps applying to arrivals from Uganda, South Sudan, and DRC took effect from 1:00 pm on 6 June 2026 (Saturday). You can also expect an extension of these measures depending on the changing health situation. Your travel plans to the UAE this summer may get affected, unless you are fully prepared. The measures include,

1. Suspension of all fresh visa issuance for nationals of the affected countries, including Dubai visit visas.

2. UAE entry restrictions for travellers coming from Uganda, South Sudan or DRC, including those travelling via transit through other countries.

3. Entry only permitted if you have spent more than 21 days outside the affected countries before arriving in the UAE.

The UAE and different airlines operating in the UAE airspace, such as Emirates, are constantly monitoring the situation. Please be informed that the country’s entry and transit restrictions apply to all travellers, even those arriving by indirect routings. But cargo flights operating on the UAE-Uganda, UAE-South Sudan, and UAE-DRC routes are continuing and so are the transit flights. If you are a transit passenger in Dubai, please make sure to abide by the Ebola travel entry measures of your final destination. Do not panic in any situation, as Dubai and all of the UAE is fully prepared to cater to your requirements and requests.
