Christmas came bigger and better in Dubai this year.

One of the most stunning Dubai landmarks has reopened after closing for more than a couple of years for maintenance purposes. The iconic ‘Ain Dubai’ had a soft launch reopening on December 25 and entirely reopened on December 26.

Standing at 250 m high, Ain Dubai is the largest observation wheel globally, looking out over JBR, Dubai Marina. A holding statement on the official site is no longer available and has been replaced by ticket information.

First announced in 2013, Ain Dubai is epitome of Dubai’s commitment to building the multicultural city’s offerings as a tourism and lifestyle destination and enriching the quality of life of people residing in Dubai.

1. Steady as a rock observation cabins

Passengers can board into one of 48 cabins at Ain Dubai, each capable of carrying up to 40 guests. This means at any one time, up to 1,750 people can relish the journey on the observation wheel. One complete rotation takes around 38 minutes.

2. Largest and tallest observation wheel

Standing at 250 metres high, Ain Dubai is almost double the height of the London Eye at a mere 135 metres. Las Vegas’ High Roller stands at a height of 167.5 meters, the Singapore Flyer at 165 metres and China’s Star of Nanchang at 160 metres.

3. Engineering marvel demanded global effort

Ain Dubai is a true engineering marvel. More than 10 countries came together for its construction. The steel wheel structure has been produced across the UAE, South Korea and Germany. The UK, Netherlands and France offered key expertise.

4. Largest cranes and 11,200 tonnes of steel used

Construction engineers used some of the largest cranes globally to assemble Ain Dubai’s major components. The structure used 11,200 tonnes of steel, 33% more than the amount used to build the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Tuesday to Friday: 12 pm to 9 pm

Saturday and Sunday: 11 am to 9 pm

Ain Dubai location and public transport options

The iconic Ain Dubai observation wheel has resumed operations after a long pause for maintenance reasons. F57 buses are available from Jebel Ali Metro Bus Stop to Bluewaters Island each day from 6 am to midnight (Friday 6 am to 1 am).

The nearest tram station to Bluewaters Island – located on a contemporary waterfront location – is the Dubai Marina tram station. Once you reach the station, you can easily cover the remaining distance of 422 metres by foot or by taking a taxi.

1. I have motion sickness, should I ride Ain Dubai?

Since the observation wheel moves at walking pace, it is highly unlikely that you are going to experience motion sickness in the cabin.

2. Can I bring F&B to Ain Dubai?

Since Ain Dubai is a completely catered attraction, F&B brought from outside is not permitted. You make take F&B purchased from the lounge or concessions inside the cabins.

3. How long does a trip on Ain Dubai take?
