The Middle East crisis is starting to simmer again. Though things are relatively calmer in the UAE, some precautions need to be taken to keep all citizens, residents and tourists safe. For this reason, the US consular appointments in the UAE have also been suspended on a temporary basis. The US Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the US Consulate General in Dubai have announced the cancellation of appointments till 15 July 2026. Therefore, if you already have an appointment on these dates, please do not come to the Embassy or Consulate. Instead, the staff members are going to contact you for rescheduling.
Till 15 July 2026, all routine US visa services in the UAE remain suspended. This is meant to keep all people safe, as the Middle East crisis has been provoked again. On a temporary basis, the US Embassy and Consulate General in the UAE remain on ordered-departure status. Basically, non-emergency US government personnel have been relocated outside the country. Therefore, US citizens in the UAE can access only limited consular assistance for the time being. Until 15 July, if you hold any consular appointments at either of the places in the UAE, please do not go in person. Instead, you are going to be notified about a rescheduling.

What to Do if I Hold US Consular Appointments in UAE on or Before 15 July 2026?
Because of the Middle East crisis, the US Embassy and Consulate General in the UAE have announced the cancellation of consular appointments till 15 July 2026. But some US citizens may hold appointments during this time. If you are one of them, please do not panic. You should not come to the Embassy or Consulate in person, as these places have been put on ordered-departure status. The staff, instead, is going to contact you to reschedule. For passport or other consular services, please use US Citizen Services Navigator at ae.usembassy.gov/services/. Put in your preferred location and the consular team is going to get back to you in a short time.
In such situations, the key is not to panic. The UAE is sufficiently prepared to handle such emergencies. Please keep an eye out for US Mission to UAE social media pages for all updates on US consular appointments. If you are taking a flight from any airport in the UAE, such as Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Zayed International Airport (AUH), please check your flight status on a regular basis. Call up your airline on their official number for any queries. Once you reach the airport, check the digital screens to remain updated on your gate number and other details. Last but not least, if your flight gets cancelled, please do not fret.
