Just recently, the US and Canada announced a tightening of entry requirements for travellers linked to Uganda. Today, the UAE Foreign Ministry advised its nationals and residents against travel to Uganda, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as the public health situation related to Ebola has been changing.
If you have been planning a trip to Uganda, South Sudan, or the Democratic Republic of the Congo for leisure or business purposes, please think again. Multiple countries across the globe have started introducing enhanced travel screening, entry restrictions, and public health measures to prevent the disease from entering or spreading inside. The UAE could also be doing the same, depending on the situation. In such situations, it is highly recommended to get your updates from official or reliable sources only.

What UAE Nationals in Uganda, South Sudan & DRC Need to Know
UAE nationals currently present in Uganda, South Sudan, or the Democratic Republic of the Congo are urged to exercise the utmost caution. Please pay careful attention to the health and safety instructions issued by the local authorities there. You can contact the UAE Foreign Ministry in case of any emergencies; do not hesitate. Since the public health situation across the globe has been changing because of the Ebola virus disease, please restrict your travel to the concerned countries or pay heed to the local instructions if you are already there.
If you are currently in Uganda, South Sudan, or the Democratic Republic of the Congo, it is also recommended to register on the Twajudi service. This platform helps UAE nationals communicate in case of emergencies. You can register before travelling or during your time abroad. You do not need to pay a single Dirham to use the service. The only condition is that you need to be an Emirati citizen. The procedure is also quite simple:

Emirates Issues UAE Travel Advisory Over Ebola Virus

The Dubai-based Emirates airline has issued an Ebola travel advisory, asking its customers to check their destination country’s entry requirements prior to travel. Many regions have started implementing Ebola-related measures, such as travel entry restrictions and/or enhanced screening measures. Therefore, use government channels of the destination country you are planning to travel to, especially if it is Uganda, South Sudan, or the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and do the needful. It is highly necessary to remain attentive in such situations. But do not panic, as the UAE and its establishments are taking all steps to keep you safe.
