Thailand Visa for UAE Residents: Under Current Glance

Before the revisions take effect, the current rules around Thailand visa exemption are going to stay in place. Citizens of the UAE, among other nationalities, can continue to get visa-free entry to Thailand for a period not exceeding 60 days. Some UAE residents can also enjoy the same benefits and others may need an eVisa.
Since 1 January 2025, all UAE residents requiring a tourist visa for Thailand have been eligible for an eVisa. The process of applying for the Thailand eVisa is also quite simple. You just need to go to thaievisa.go.th and do the needful. But some UAE residents do not actually need to apply for the eVisa, as they are eligible for either Thailand Visa Exemption or Thailand Visa-on-Arrival, depending on their nationality.
Thailand Visa for UAE Residents: Under Revised Glance

Just recently, the Thai Cabinet approved the revision of the 60-day Thailand visa exemption scheme (in place since July 2024). But it is going to take some time before the changes take effect, majorly 15 days after publication in the Royal Gazette. In the meantime, foreign tourists currently in Thailand or those entering the country after the revised measures take effect can remain for the duration of their existing permitted stay.
Once the implementation is done, the Thailand visa exemption is not going to be of 60 days anymore. Both UAE citizens and UAE residents are going to be affected. Basically, the revised scheme assigns each country or territory to a single visa exemption category. Nationals of 54 countries and territories can get a 30-day visa free entry to Thailand and nationals of three countries or territories are going to become eligible for a 15-day Thailand Visa Exemption. Depending on separate bilateral agreements, some other nationalities can get visa exemptions of 14, 30 or 90 days. Plus, Thailand Visa-on-Arrival is going to be assigned to four nationalities, including Indian expats in the UAE and more.
Thailand Visa Eligibility in 2026: Updated Version
The latest revisions of Thailand visa schemes have been announced after taking into account security and economic considerations. Till they are updated, you can make the most of the 60-day Thailand visa perks. There are a lot of beautiful places to visit in Thailand, including the extremely famous beaches of Koh Samui and the dynamic nightlife of Bangkok. The UAE has also been taking this destination seriously as different Emirati airlines launch flights to different parts of Thailand.

1. Thailand Visa Free Entry for 30 Days
People from 54 countries and territories are going to be eligible for the 30-day Thailand visa exemption, including Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Bhutan, Brunei, Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine, the UAE, UK and the US.
2. Thailand Visa Free Entry for 15 Days
Once the updates are implemented, citizens of three countries can reap the benefits of Thailand visa exemption for 15 days. These include passport holders of Seychelles, Mauritius and the Maldives. If you seek an extension of your visa, reach out to the relevant authorities on time.
3. Thailand Visa-on-Arrival
In the near future, citizens of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Serbia and India can get Thailand Visa-on-Arrival once they land at one of the airports in the country. This is going to be quite a simple procedure, through and through. You do not need to make elaborate preparations.
4. Thailand Visa Exemptions for Bilateral Ties (14/30/90 Days)
Depending on separate bilateral agreements and other applicable arrangements, different nationalities can get Thailand Visa Exemption for 14, 30 or 90 days. It mainly depends on the passport you are carrying. For example, citizens of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru and Republic of Korea can stay visa-free in Thailand for 90 days. Citizens of China, Laos, Russia, Hong Kong, Macao, Timor-Leste, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Vietnam get 30 days, and those from Cambodia and Myanmar (international airports only) get 14 days.
Thailand Tourist Visa From Dubai: Eligibility, Requirements & Process
There are a couple of questions to address here, besides the general stuff. Do UAE citizens need a visa for Thailand? Do UAE residents need a visa for Thailand? If you have gone through the earlier sections of this article, both questions have already been taken care of. But in brief, understand the likely situation once the latest revisions are implemented.

1. Thailand Visa for UAE Citizens
Once the changes are implemented, UAE passport holders can get visa free entry to Thailand for 30 days. Currently, this duration is 60 days. You can still pack your bags and leave for one of the best beach holidays in your lifetime – spending at most 60 days in paradise.
2. Thailand Visa for UAE Residents
For quite some time, UAE residents planning to travel to Thailand have been eligible for Thai eVisa. They can apply for the same on thaievisa.go.th. But some other passport holders do not need the eVisa, as they are eligible for the Thailand Visa Exemption or Thailand Visa-on-Arrival. Once the changes are implemented, the duration and eligibility is likely to get updated for some nationalities. Take a look at the screenshots attached earlier.
Do I Need to Submit My Thailand Visa Application In-Person?

Unless your passport makes you eligible for Thailand Visa Exemption or Thailand Visa-on-Arrival schemes, you can apply for the eVisa. Please keep in mind that UAE residents planning trips to Thailand (under current and future rules) do not need to visit the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai to submit their eVisa application form. Instead, you can complete all of the procedure online: thaievisa.go.th.
The Thailand visa fee also needs to be paid through official platforms only. The Consulate-General in Dubai has not authorised any travel agency in the UAE to process the visa applications on the applicants’ behalf. Therefore, if any agent is asking you to make a payment, please do not fall for this scam. Get your information from official sources only.
Thailand Airports’ Passenger Service Charge (PSC): What to Expect
Before the Thailand visa exemption scheme revision update came, there had been another announcement for international tourists planning a trip to Thailand. Basically, from 20 June 2026, six airports in Thailand are going to see a more than 50% rise in their Passenger Service Charge (PSC). This rule, nonetheless, is for international departing passengers (both Thai and foreign nationals). The price is going to rise from 730 Baht to 1,130 Baht per person.
You can take a look at our detailed article on it for a better understanding of the situation. The six Thailand airports to see the change are managed by the Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT), including Suvarnabhumi Airport, Don Mueang International Airport, Chiang Mai International Airport, Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai International Airport, Phuket International Airport, and Hat Yai International Airport.
When is the Best Time to Visit Thailand?

The usual best time to visit Thailand is from November to February. Temperatures remain quite ideal for outdoor experiences, letting you enjoy sightseeing and beach hopping at peace. But the right time to explore Thailand also depends on the specific place you are planning to visit. For example, November to February is ideal for Bangkok city tours, Chiang Mai trekking, and lounging on beaches in Phuket. March to May, on the other hand, is the hot season, ideal for island hopping and exploring different cultural festivals. June to October marks the monsoon season in Thailand. This period is great for budget travel, though you may need to navigate high humidity and reckless rainfall on some days.
Best Flights from the UAE to Thailand in 2026
You can easily find multiple flights from the UAE to Thailand on a daily basis. Emirates, Etihad, flydubai and Air Arabia have brought their operations to different destinations across Thailand, such as Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi and Chiang Mai. But early bookings are highly recommended, especially ahead of peak travel seasons.
Emirates, for example, runs direct flights from Dubai to Thailand each day. This airline caters to the needs of passengers seeking trips to Bangkok, Phuket and Krabi. On the other hand, the UAE’s national carrier – Etihad – operates direct flights to Phuket and Bangkok. flydubai is also taking this route quite seriously as it is going to operate double daily flights from Dubai to Bangkok from 15 September 2026, in addition to its existing Krabi route. Air Arabia is also in the picture, running direct flights from Sharjah to Bangkok and Sharjah to Phuket.
Hope this brief guide to the recently announced revisions to the 60-day Thailand visa exemption scheme has been useful. Both UAE citizens and UAE residents are going to be affected by this change. Emirati passport holders are eligible for 30-day visa free entry to Thailand, and UAE residents from different countries can get an eVisa, if they are not eligible for a visa-free entry or Visa-on-Arrival already. Some Thailand airports are also going to see a rise in their Passenger Service Charge (PSC) from next month. Basically, a lot is happening around Thailand tourism and you need to keep an eye out on our travel page for the latest updates.
