ToggleThinking of taking a trip to the beautiful Palm Jumeirah? You need to find an alternate transport mode as Palm Monorail has suspended its operations temporarily due to station maintenance. Something that used to take thousands of people on a scenic ride along Palm Jumeirah is taking a pause only to come back stronger and better.
In the meantime, if someone needs to explore Palm Jumeirah, is there another transport mode to rely on? Definitely. This article is going to highlight all of that and more in a concise fashion.

Palm Monorail is a significant part of Dubai’s public transportation scene. You can use the super versatile nol Card there, go on a scenic tour of Palm Jumeirah as one-sided journey takes around 9 minutes, check out different stops along the route, such as Palm Jumeirah Mall and Atlantis Aquaventure, and make the most of free parking for up to three hours.
Palm Monorail suspends operations: Has the reopening date been announced?

Not yet. If you go to their official site, you can find a notice about Palm Monorail suspending its operations until further notice, due to station maintenance. The exact restarting date of operations is still yet to be announced. But one thing is clear. Dubai takes its infrastructure seriously and, therefore, you can expect the maintenance to be completed before you even find any major changes to your plans.
Is there an alternate transport to explore Palm Jumeirah?
There is one. Palm Jumeirah is one of the most fascinating manmade attractions in Dubai. It is so famous that tens of thousands of people from different parts of the globe flock to the place each year. From seaside dining to the most luxurious hotels and nightclubs, Palm Jumeirah doesn’t disappoint its guests.
Since the Palm Monorail, a transport mode exclusive to Palm Jumeirah, has suspended its operations on a temporary basis, the island is going to see a spike in road traffic. Currently, you can use the Dubai Tram or RTA buses to reach the base of Palm Jumeirah and then, use either a taxi, ride-hailing platforms like Careem and Uber or drive yourself to reach into the Palm itself.
Is Palm Monorail directly connected to Dubai Metro?

The beautiful Palm Monorail is not directly connected to the Dubai Metro. But you can find a seamless connection. Palm Monorail is linked to the Dubai Tram via a footbridge from the Palm Jumeirah station. From then on, the tram line connects to the Dubai Metro’s Red Line in the Dubai Marina (Sobha Realty Metro Station) and JLT neighbourhoods.
The best part is the payment system. To book your spot on the Palm Monorail, you can use your nol Card only (the same card used on Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram and plenty of other public transport modes in Dubai). Prices for a single trip start from AED 5 and the round trip ticket price starts from AED 10. You can purchase your Palm Monorail tickets online or at the stations. Doesn’t it sound super easy and affordable?
On another note, one door closes and another one opens up. The suspension of Palm Monorail operations comes against a backdrop of RTA launching and upgrading multiple bus routes in Dubai. 4 bus routes are launched and 70 are upgraded, making it easier for both residents and tourists to commute and explore. The Palm Monorail is going to remain unoperational for some time. Road traffic in Palm Jumeirah is, subsequently, going to increase as more and more people either drive or use taxis/ride-hailing platforms. But Dubai is ready for its passengers and you are going to have an incredible time on Palm Jumeirah for sure.
Keep an eye out for more updates on Palm Monorail’s operations.
