Marriott Group Hotels achieve gold certification from Global Sustainability Organization for three of its hotels in Dubai based on their environmental management were rewarded with gold certificates from the Green Globe certification program.

The latter were checked by Farnek, a Dubai-based sustainability company. Talking to Muna Al Nahdi, who takes the lead on sustainability at Farnek, the hotels have complied with or gone beyond 380 exacting sustainability standards. They achieved a total response percentage of 93% and above in most of the questions that reflect their commitment to environmental conservation and the UAE’s vision towards achieving net zero emission by the year 2050.

The Four Points hotels have been following their green initiatives for about five years. Some of their green initiatives include:

  • Recycling food waste
  • Better waste management
  • Air conditioning systems cleaned by machines
  • Putting up solar water systems

The Delta Hotel came up with creative ways to be more eco-friendly:

  • Using old bed sheets to prepare reusable laundry bags for staff
  • Having motion sensors on lights in the staff areas
  • Replacing old air handling units with new, low-energy units that produce less pollutants

The Gold certification proves how committed Palaszewski, who is the manager of these properties, is to minimize the company’s impact on the natural world. She encouraged the staff saying that this kind of reward will be a guarantee to guests that the hotels are considering responsible tourism.
