Changes to Emirates power bank policy
These changes are going to come into effect from October 1, 2025. Using any kind of power bank is soon going to be prohibited on board Emirates flights. But passengers can still carry one power bank onboard, considering some specific conditions are met.
- Emirates customers can carry one power bank that is under 100 watt-hours.
- You cannot use power banks to charge any personal electronic items onboard, including smartphones, tablets, laptops and cameras.
- It is also not permitted to charge a power bank using the aircraft’s supply.
- power banks need to feature capacity rating information to be accepted for transport.
- You should not place power banks in the overhead bin onboard the aircraft. These items need to be placed in the seat pocket or in a bag under the seat in front of you.
- The existing rule: power banks cannot be put inside checked luggage.

5. Bringing smart bags on Emirates flights
Smart bags are really in the trend these days. But there are some restrictions on carrying these bags featuring lithium batteries as both cabin and checked baggage on all Emirates flights. You can check the official platform for the complete information.
For cabin baggage, smart bags need to be of the right size. The battery needs to be removable, too. You can keep the battery in the bag as long as the bag is on OFF mode completely. Please note that it is not permitted to charge the bag on board.
For checked baggage, smart bags are permitted if the battery is removed and carried in the cabin. The baggage should also be of the right proportions. If the battery cannot be removed, the smart bag cannot be brought into the cabin and checked in baggage.
